Vic fell to the bed, spent. Matt lay against his back, a welcome weight. As their heartbeats returned to normal, they breathed in unison, “Love you.”
Matt snickered. “I said it first,” he claimed.
“It’s my birthday,” Vic pointed out. “I should be able to say it first.”
“We both said it,” Matt conceded.
